![]() An important letter is coming home today about our science field trip to John Ball Zoo in May. This is an awesome field trip that is part of our science curriculum and Biomes Unit. Please consider being a chaperone for the trip. The cost is covered with the Kent County Mileage that was recently passed and buses are covered by the science dept. YAY A FREE FIELD TRIP!!!! ![]() We will be celebrating Earth Day by going to Celebration Cinema to see Disney's Earth and then returning to school to complete a service project. The cost for the movie is $4.00 and an additional $4.00 if choosing to purchase a popcorn and drink combo. Please see the note that came home with your child. ![]() Please "feed" our Paper Gator that pays our school to recycle used paper products-including junk mail, magazines, old school papers, newspapers, old phone books. The bin is located behind Pinewood across from the soccer field. Just dump it in the bin and the school earns money to help pay for incentives. Thank you for recycling and supporting your school! Reading at home is necessary and even required by ELA. At least 20 minutes per day.
here are a few MYTHS about reading at home. Picture books are only for little kids. Reading is only done at school. Children need to sit still when listening to a read aloud OR reading a book Encouraging reading at home is a great way to help your child be successful at school!
Please see the information below and the link for ways to help your child be prepared for the testing. Sixth grade will be testing starting April 30 through May 4.
Make sure that your child is well rested and eats a high protein, low sugar breakfast-Children who are hungry or have too much sugar are less able to pay attention to the test Remember to make attendance during testing window a priority as the make ups require loss of instructional time in the classroom Help encourage hydration-water during the test is prohibited but before, after and during breaks is necessary. Encourage your child to do their best as it reflects their academic performance. The following link is to helpful information provided by the Michigan Department of Education
